seasonal disconnect

What's the easiest way to engage the pto seasonal disconnect on a model 400? I tried for a few hours last evening and could never get it to line up in there.

If you tried that long I would say you have a problem internally which is pretty normal. Just put pto in gear at rear unit, lock the shaft so it cannot turn with vise grip or what ever and have some one turn the engine with crank, or fan or what ever works. Next, if that doesn't work is to take the bottom cover off and have a look see. Will have to drain oil. Some are damaged and you may be able to put a split collar around the shaft to positively hold it engaged.

Here you go, Pete.
