oil canester

Changed the oil and filter on my H, and now the canester is leaking at the top where the bolt goes in. any suggestions on how to stop that leak? Is there a gasket that i'm missing there?

It should have a copper washer. I have used a sparkplug gasket from 18mm plugs, and also found copper washeras at good hardware stores. Jim

CNH still sells the copper gasket. I just bought three for my MD. I think I had $10 invested in all three.

I forgot, some say you can put an oring in there and that will help it seal. DON"T TIGHTEN THE SNOT OUT OF IT because it can crack the top of the canister.

The canister or case must be flat where the copper ring seats, also so must the bolt head surface that mates, it is what happens when you tighten just a bit more to stop a leak.
