10-20 gas pooling in carb

Hello,
I have a "29 10-20. starts on a dime pull starting, won"t start off the crank.
I found the gas seems to pool at the bottom of the carb. is there channels or ports in the manifold that could be plugged? the jet inside the throttle is ok. Any help is greatly appreciated. Tyler Martin

well a couple of comments. First off, if you can pull start it, but not crank start it, is the impulse working properly? Also, could be a weak magnet ( not likely but possible). Secondly, those carbs are more a mixer than a carb. However, you could have float problems.

Impulse is working correctly, magnet was just recharged. fuel is
getting into the throttle body, just not vaporizing and getting into
the cylinder. mag is hot, has good spark. sometimes it will hit once,
but not keep going.

if everything is right, these old girls just need to "hit" once, and off they go. What crank starting procedure are you using? is it similar to the following:

1.) With spark off, choke on, and 1/3 throttle. Give it 2 complete cranks.
2.) advance spark 1/3 of it's travel to full advance. Still on full choke. Leave throttle at 1/3. start around the 3 - 4 oclock position. stick thumb out like you are going to hitch hike. give the crank a good, speedy 1/2 spin, cupping the handle with your thumb alongside NOT OVER!
3.) If it doesn't fire in 1-2 cranks, back choke off a tad, maybe 3/4 to 1/2.
crank again. If it doesn't fire this time, something is not working correctly.

PS. is there plenty of suction at the carb? Is your air cleaner clean? Good air flow?
