Finally getting real close to ready for paint.

Lots more work done... today: new gasket on push rod cover, oil change, adjust clutch, touque, valves, front wheel bearing adj, etc.

Things going well, no other issues found :) Removed the rear seat platformed cleaned and re-installed.

Next will be to removed all the gauges, wiring, water temp sensor, and coolant hoses. Then remove rear wheels, as they are getting the tires removed and wheels sandblasted & powder coated

that will be IT... off to paint. THEN we'll finish it up... I have new wiring harness, plugs & plug wires, coil, battery, coolant hoses, hyd hoses, seat, emblems, steering wheel, etc. etc

Yes little crazy but we have come this far.

What do you thing??? anything else.

Why are you having the wheels powder coated? DO you know qhat the "powder" in powder coating is?

here's something interesting....

So when I was in Jr high school, in like 1985 our neighbor had a 460 with rear light that did not work. So I asked him if I could have the mount & lens. Rest is history, since then we have had TWO lights on our 560.

Cool dont you think?

never done this before... honestly guys, what do you think??

yes it helped BIG time that the tractor was SO SO nice, but as you all know it's been expensive for SURE!

It's going to be at RPRU next year.... looking forward to it!

Not a good idea on a tractor, any chip forms rust underneath. I would much rather have paint, but some people swear by powder coating.

Powder coating is supposedly bullet proof, unless
you get a chip from a overly aggressive tire
installer or the clamps from the inner wheels break
the coating. Basically, you are unable to touch it
up.

SAVE YOUR MONEY! DO NOT powder coat your rims, unless you never plan on using ths tractor. All paints/coatings are capable of getting chipped ESPECIALLY on heavy equipment ! Paint is easier AND cheaper to touch up.I think most people use powder coat MOSTLY as to brag to their friends that they got something powder coated. I would only use the stuff on objects that were in a "low impact" area.(Such as a dash/guage mount area/)

Seriously,I would not do it!

I have some stuff done in powder.(MOSTLY small sheet metal items)It looks great when done, but is not for items subject to abrasion and chipping! I have a drag car and intentionally spray paint the rool bar tubing because something is ALWAYS rubbing against the bars some where.Like when I am working on the engine. After someting happens,All I do is sand and clean the area and repaint.GOOD paint on your wheels will look awesome!

BTW,your tractor looks great so far.It will look really cool when you ger her done! Here are how my wheels turned out.(I know different brand of tractor, but I got a Super M as well I use all the time.

your tractor looks GREAT!!!!

really looking forward to getting my tractor completed :) sure takes lots of time to get it right, but having a good tractor to start makes all the difference on the final product.

I'm sorry, I've always been a "red" man, but that is one good looking ford !! First one I've ever seen I actually like, nice job !!

Your 560 is going to be one fine tractor when you get it finished, I'm going to have to go to RPRU just to see it in person, I don't think any pics could do it justice.

One little thing I noticed, is that the rear center axle shafts on your tractor are painted red. I have seen some painted black that looked sharp, and some painted sort of a dark gray. I am wondering how they came from the factory, unpainted, red, black, or gray.
The front wheels should not be powder coated, IMO, I don't think you will be able to match the exact color of rest of tractor, maybe the rear ones can be powdercoated silver, or the "galvanized" color could be matched, it's up to you, I think the silver color looks better, but to each his own.
I'll probably get hammered for this one, but here goes..........I saw a 560 at RPRU in 2002 that had the outside portion of his front rims painted silver & the center red to match the tractor, I know this isn't how it came from the factory but it was certainly an eye catcher.

front wheels are getting sand blasted and painted to match tractor alone with all the weights too.

Rear wheels will be silver color, I have seen some other color combinations also, going to keep that part stock. BUT will have lots of detail on this tractor, new bolts everywhere, hoses, wiring, etc Not to mention a GREAT paint job w/ clear coat and the whole deal. :)

Not 100% sure about the exhaust yet, my friends are pushing me to straight chrome pipe, BUT Im thinking take stock exhaust and get it chromed or something along that line.

thanks again guys for all your help, really enjoy it!

I appreciate the sound of a straight pipe as much as anybody, and I like the look of a chromed straight pipe, but if I've seen one tractor with a chrome straight pipe, I bet I've seen a thousand. It's to the point that a chromed straight pipe just really doesn't grab my attention anymore, because there are SO many of them. I'm to the point I guess where I prefer to see a nice, clean, factory stock muffler. Just my opinion. It's your tractor, and you are the one who calls the shots.

Yes I agree with you, going to stock muffler is my pick too i think. Maybe get it finished or something would look great!

Thanks man !!!

I am a FARMALL guy !!! But the Ford has been in the family since 1965? It is the first thing I ever drove! (At 4 yrs !)But I love My Super M.Best thing I ever bought!

BTW,why not use one of those stainless steel mufflers the looks identical to a stock muffler,INSTEAD of the chrome straight pipe ???

My next muffler on My super M will be one of those !!! (Yea,My NEXT muffler, already replaced 1 steel one)

I know I posted it farther down as well, but the stainless steel replacement mufflers they make are awesome!!! They look like stock, but made out of stainless.A true stand out !!!
