Have a 1942 Farmall B with a cartridge type filter.
Want to change to a spin on oil filter. Is there a
spin on oil filter or a adapter to fit?

Kit is Part # 538828R91 at CIH. (About $95.00.)

CIH filter # is 538836R1.

Other filters that fit the adapter:

Fleetguard #F3308
Fram #P3317
Wix #51051
Baldwin #BT341
Hastings #HF907
Hastings #LF117

I like them. I think they are great. Any I tractor I buy that has one on it, I take them off and sell them on eBay for $100. I love them. Takes $100 off the tractor purchase.

Funny how people want to buy an old tractor and then try to "modernize" it. Why not just buy a more modern tractor instead??? I think it's kind of neat to go thru the ritual of changing oil and the old style filters on my Farmalls...the air cleaner filter makes me appreciate that I'm working on a machine that was built as high-tech in that time period. I take the time to groom them and they reward me by purring smoothly at work or play.

I agree! I feel the same way about 6 volt charging and magneto ignitions.

If I wanted a tractor with spin on oil filter, electronic ignition and 12 volt, I'd just buy one from the 80s! These old systems worked great for many decades when maintained properly, why change it now?
