Transmission Fluid

What is the best and what will do a good job for transmission fluid. I have read my manual and it says IH transmission fluid but what is that? Is there something else easier to get that will work just as good?

Sorry, duh....you start posting so many times you just think everyone knows what kind of tractor your working on...

That will happen. We need sigs like a lot of the other forums run. At least we could look at your tractors and assume.

I use regular 80-90wt gear oil in mine.

You can go heavier if you have seals that leak a lot.

I've heard --- I think it was gene bender -- recommend up to 145 weight here. I've never run it myself, but he certainly seems to know what he's talking about.

Once you start getting that thick, I'm not sure how low you want to go temperature wise. That might be kind of thick if you're plowing snow in sub-zero extremes - but again, no first hand experience.
