M Farmall Carb And Air Cleaner

1. What is the best way to fix a stuck float in the carb?

2. How do you get the filter out of the air cleaner? Have checked in different shop and service manuels but could not find.

Thanks in advance

Replace the float and needle and seat. You dont remove the filter in those aircleaners. Question is why remove it just clean and use as intended.

1 take the carb apartand soak it in carb cleaner for a couple of days. After its cleaned up replace any parts that you need to. Make sure the float doesn't have holes in it.

2 The air filter isn't designed to be replaced. the only part to clean is the bottom which holds engine oil. You should clean and replace the oil every year or two. Hope this helps. Kent

If you want to clean the actual mesh inside, you have to take the air cleaner off the tractor. Now get about 2 or so gallons of kero or diesel in a 5 gallon pail. Let the air cleaner soak for some time, moving it once and awhile to break up the oil and dirt built up in there. This was supposed to be done every year or more depending if the tractor was used in heavy dust conditions. If you need more info the operators manual has it all listed out.

I was told/read somewhere that Dawn dish soap worked to clean them as well. I tried it on my MD and it didn't work very well at all. We have started using the hot water pressure washer on them. That works great!

That does, cant be a steam pressure washer, the one my father had at work, would strip anything down to bare metal in a few seconds if you were not to careful, the old 5hp honda sure dont do that... haha
