BRAKES ON MY SC

BRAKES BARELY STOP THE TRACTOR PLUS WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE PEDALS THEY SEEM TO HANG-UP AT A CERTAIN POINT AND THEN SNAP PAST IT BUT STILL DON"T HARDLY STOP YOU. I TOOK THEM APART CAN"T FIND ANYTHING BROKE OR THAT APPEARS TO BE OUT OF PLACE. THE DISCS ARE VERY SMOOTH THOUGH. ANY THOUGHTS ON WHY THEY CATCH OR WORK WELL?

I would say you need to check a few things at least, first is a set of disk's, a complete set is around 60 bucks. Second the ball sockets that are up against the pedal, this is on the adjusting bolt, those will hang up in the pedal and cause binding. Third you need to look at all the braking surfaces and make sure there clean and have a good surface on the no rust, pitting, oil etc. Forth make sure the ball and ramps are in good conditon, this is inside of the brake actuator. Make sure the springs on the actuator are in good shape as well, no broken or fit loose to the actuator. I would look at the first two things that i spoke though.

Thats why the brakes dont work well they are glazed. You can break the glaze with a disc grinder then run the disc the opposite direction when putting back together. make sure the other parts are cleaned and free.
