felt gasket

Hi Guys,
I'm rebuilding my Super A engine and in doing so I have a felt gasket that came in the gasket set that I don't have a clue where it goes. I think I have a picture loaded but just in case I'll describe it. It's the diameter of a dime and is about 1/4 inch thick. It has about a 1/4 inch hole in it. I thought at first it was meant to seal the arm on the governor but that takes a regular seal. Any ideas as to where it goes?
Thanks,
Dave

On my C the seal replaced the felt that I took out. Could be that yours already had the seal, but the kit contained both. IH's kits usually cover everything and parts are left over.

Thanks CNKS I'll check both places. I will be replacing the gov. seal today ether way. In your opinion, if it is the gov. seal should I use the felt or the standard seal?
Red John, were you talking about a magnito or a distributor?

David,
I'm referring to a distributor. Look in your parts manual. On some of my tractors the felt is still there, on some it is not. I'm sure it is something that gets lost over time; and it is not included in any points and condenser replacement kits that I'm aware of. And obviously it is not something that is absolutely essential for the tractor to function. So use it or don't use it, you'll be OK either way.

Use the seal if you have one. However, those governors do not seem to get enough oil in them to leak out. Otherwise the original felt in mine would have been leaking.

Red John 2,
Thanks for the info but my Super A has a magnito not a distributor. I remember the felt in the 50's vintage cars I've worked on in the past but I think this felt is to big for that aplication anyway. I think CNKS is right about it being the felt for the gov. I used the seal instead of the felt.
Thanks for the help Guys,
Dave
