450D Power Steering Again

I recieved my behlen power steering unit today and went to test fit and it is hitting the air breather tube running across the valve cover by about 1 inch. Has anyone has this problem before?? Also I have been looking in the archives here and other sites for the past few hours doing some research on this and have not found a picture that shows exactly how the valves, pump and hydraulic hook ups look. I have a owners manual and I&T manual that shows some pictures but does not solve my problem to why my pump is not fitting. Did they make different tubes or pump lengths?? My next question is that I keep hearing that a regulator / safety valve or priority valve is needed to run the PS. Did all tractors come equipped with this and how do I tell if mine did? I will take any information / ideas etc on this! This is one of the finishing touches on this tractor. Thanks to all in advance!

Priority valves are only found on tractors with PS. if yours has no PS from the factory, you will need the valve. It assures that the PS gets pressure first, but not too much! Jim

Air intake tubes from the air cleaner to intake manifold are different. Power steering type makes the bend more toward front of tractor.
For IH PS type hookup a regulator & priority valve block, control valve, inside one, U pipe and fittings, orfice plug, return hose to reservoir drain plug, and pressure hose goes to the R.P. Valve.

Are you positioning it at an angle. The diesels tilt the behlen unit off toward the right side and brace goes down to one manifold bolt. Gas engines they stand it straight in line over valve cover. And, no, all tractors don't come with the flow divider valve and do require a whole different regulator valve assembly and first hydraulic valve if you want to go that way. Can put on a seperate pump instead if you want to go that way. Hard to find a good used regulator valve assembly with the flow divider you need. Most are worn out. Might get lucky.
