I restored a 766 last year. I love this tractor. My problem is i purchased all new knobs for the hydraulic levers, torque aplifier, throttle and gear shifters. The rubber knobs are all splitting. Has any one else had this problem? What are you suppose to do before you put noe knobs on the handles? Thanks Kent

Sorry that I can't help you with the knobs other than saying that some of the reproduction stuff like that seems to suffer the effects of sunlight really quickly. I had a set of ball joints that the boots fell off in under a year.

On the other hand, that is one mighty fine looking tractor you've got there. Best of luck, Sam

The poor rubber/material in new knobs can be helped by reaming out the knob with a rat tailed file (assumes a push on knob) rough sanding the lever, and and using gorilla glue to hold it on. (follow the direstions and use moisture on one of the surfaces) this prevents the rubber from being under expansive pressure. Very nice tractor indeed. Jim

Spray the lever with WD-40, then push the knob on. Old motorcycle racers trick to put gripos on and keep them where they are.

Dont laugh!A golf ball that is drilled to fit and painted black makes a fine shift knob!and will "stand the test of time"
