sounded like this tractor was bought for the tires, Id be intrested in makeing an offer with out the tires. shoot me an email with a number and I can call this evening and see if we can make a deal. Paul

I suppose it depends where you are and who else is
there but I gave $650 for this one at an auction in
2009.

I put a new battery in and it has run ever since.

Isn't that the one the guy with no shed bought for the tires? I would guess it at around $1000 without those tires. I would pay at least $1500 if it had those tires.

Do any u guys see anything that says this is a 39. It could be, Im just saying, on the old ones, I usually expect to find the old seat. This one I dont think is origional. Also on the old ones ive seen wheels that were spoked just like a F-20s. I also find on the old ones occasionally that there still is the cultivator hardware sticking out from the grill with the lower oblong grill piece missing. Not seeing anything like the above on a tractor H or M, always makes me suspect. Whats your thoughts??

I didnt see a tool box. Also, and I could be dead wrong on this, Didnt the early Hs have 2 gas caps for kero and gas? I cant figure out what that big spring comeing up from the floor through the seat mounting would be for. The piece its above is against the floor, and isnt going anywhere.

That is a 39 or an early 40. Serial break for the platform and seat was 15697. The seat changed with that number and the trans cover did not have the "slot" in it. The spoked wheels you mentioned were cut offs with a rim welded to the spokes. IH never put rubber on spoked wheels on the letter series. The statement about the missing piece and cultivator hardware could be found on any H or M through the Super Series. That is a very nice and accurate tractor.

If you look at the top picture you can see the starting tank gas cap. The seat is correct, H's and M's did not come with tool boxes, I don't think it was even an option. They may have made one later, they are available from the aftermarket. The only non original thing I see is that it was converted to distributer ignition.

Compartment below seat is whats called the tool box. Spring sticking up is what cushions seat ride. Seat channel hinges in front of the spring bolt. Bolt through spring goes down with seat channel and compresses spring. Tractor is missing some early parts but still looks like a straight old H.

Here are a few more pictures.

WHY #1 Would somebody put F-20 Cutoffs on an H, and likely a near new one at the time, and #2 How could an F-20 wheel fit the spline shaft axle of an H. I know where, (or did know where) 2 Hs are setting side by side. One has the wheels as I described them, and ive seen another H or 2 with those type wheels, and the other has the hardware comeing out off the steering post for the cultivator. Id like to see one of those cultivators made for an H. Ive stood a foot away or so from both of them, at 2 different times. There in Arkansas

I paid $450 at a auction 2 yrs ago for a NICE H that is as straight as yours minus the nice paint and decal job. Never had a tractor start quicker. Dads 48 H, which is same year as mine, didnt start that quick back in the 50s/60s
