666 hydraulic fluid

Went to change the hy-tran and the filter in the 666 this morning and found the old filter and the fluid both had very fine metal filings in them. Anybody have an idea where to start looking to see where they came from. Thanks for any ideas.

Check each individual drain plug area and you may be able to get an idea. Probably too late now, but I like to drain each plug into a clean white pail to pick up on which area if any has a problem. I don't know of any particular suspect bearing in that model. You can jack up each axle and check, watch as you lift to see if axle shifts, you more than likely won't be able to detect any looseness unless you put a finger or indicator on it. Then you start pulling plates and covers etc and start looking. Could be one of many bearings.
