SH wont fire...Help!!!

Hey guys. Finally finishing up getting my SH back together after is has been in pieces in my dads shop for about three years. Anyway, it has been converted to 12-volt with 10SI alternator. New battery, alternator, new wiring, new plugs and wires, new points, condensor, rotor and cap. The coil and resistor were new three years ago but obviously have not seen any use yet. Now, my problem is that it will not fire...I think it is wired correctly and I have 12 volts coming out of the coil to the distributor but am not seeing any spark between the points. I have tried two different sets of points and condensors with no luck. Points are set to .020 with the rubbing block on the high part of the cam just like the book says. What am I missing??? It ran fine three years ago and I did not have the engine apart so timing should still be set. Thanks for any and all help!
 
are you getting spark when you turn the engine over and hold a spark plug wire near the engine block? (getting spark to the plug wires?) did you put the points in correctly?
 
do you have the insulator installed correctly for the pionts, where points are fastened with little screw. for a quick test run a wire from batt. to coil terminal opposite points side and see if you have spark at points.
 
Pull the coil to distributor wire out of the distributor cap & hold the end 1/8 to 1/4 inch from a ground. Then crank the engine & see if there is spark. If so, then check the rotor & distributor cap---wires also.
 
Thanks for the responses guys. Found a thread in the archives on how to test the coil so I took it off and tested it. It tested good so I put it back on and just for fun checked for spark at the points again and I had some! Must have just had a bad connection or something in the beginning. Put the rotor and distributor cap back on and it fired right up. Thanks again
