Restoration Progress

I Thought I would share a couple of photos from my current project. I am restoring a 1945 Farmall A. Some people ask what a restoration is...my definition is take it all apart, scrub it clean with an wire wheel or angle grinder, degrease it and get it ready for paint...

Case in point is the front end for the tractor you see. For the front end alone, I probably have 20 hours of work getting it to look like this. I hope you like it! The rear end is all done too, now to get to the engine!

good ole American steel shines up like new even after 60 years! do that to a Kubota after 60 years and you wont have any metal left...

That is a lot of work, and certainly more of it to come.
By judging by the H with shutters in the background, I would say you do them right. It is a TON of work, but definitely worth it when you get to the point of putting the decals on.
How many tractors have you "done"?

Thanks for the compliments! This will be the 5th complete restoration I have done now...I have completed a 1943 M, a 1941 H, a 1950 H, and a 1949 C that my son and I did with a full set of cultivators. I have a 1946 H waiting yet and a 230 that mechanically perfect that I have fixed all the leaks, but could use some shiny paint.

Here is a picture of the H that was in the background...I forgot that was there! I can't find a picture of it with the decals, but you can get the idea.

Here are the H and M with the wide fronts...

Yes it is...it appears to be a former plow truck blade that the previous owner mounted to the cultivator frame. I would be interested in selling the setup for it if anyone is interested. Here is another look at it from the other side. It did work pretty well, but I don't plan on using it much.
