IH 2 point/fast hitch 5 bottom plow

Unburied a moldboard plow that used to belong to my father. It's an International 5 bottom, 2 point fast hitch plow. It's been sitting out for a number of years, so not much paint left. However, decals on back of moldboards reading "Heavy Duty Super Chief" and "Adjustable plow bottom" are still very much in tact and legible. Plow doesn't have any cracks/welds and moldboards are in good shape. Coulters are all there and turn freely as well. Seems to be a good, tight plow. I don't have a tractor to pull it with, so would like to sell it or trade it for a 2 bottom plow (preferably hyd lift not trip) in great working condition.

Wouldn't this plow be desirable for a collector? What type of price range should I be asking?

Thanks

Your plow would probably work best behind an 806/856.as for"value"-not much.if you can trade it straight across for the plow you want/need-Good deal!better to give it to some who will use it than to scrap it!

DJL: Good idea to place ads but responce might be slow. There still seems to be a market for two point implements. I have a 4-14 2-point plow similar to yours that I have had people stop and ask about. Mine can be converted to a 3 bottom just by removing last bottom and re-attaching furrow wheel. Getting a trade might be hard. "Trading" for some cash will be easier and then buy what you want. Yup, a 560 or larger 2-point hitch tractor would look good with your plow. It might take time but good luck.

problem with fast hitch is not alot of guys still want to use them on the bigger tractors. I have one on my 806 and i like it. Around my area, fast hitch stuff is just about given away at sales since most guys want all 3pt stuff

I picke up a 4-16 FH plow for my 806 about a year back at a sale for 60 bux. it was missing the coulters though.

where are you located?? i wouldnt mind a 5 bottom for my 806 to actually give it a workout

I'm going to take a gamble here: 5 bottom is more likely a more modern plow that could come as 3 point or fast hitch. Then the only difference is probably the front crossbar (if memory serves right). Don't get excited yet, look at images online.
Does it look like a 710? If it does then you have something desirable to more people because little modification is necessary to convert it to 3 point. If it is an older design i'm not sure how much is required to convert properly.
try the redpower forum too, they have some plow afficionados there.

My money is on the plow being a 550. A newer 700/710/720 style plow with fast hitch points is pretty unlikely.

Super Chief bottoms are good because you can still get parts.

Just a guess, but I"ve spent a lot of time hawking parts for my 411 with the Plow Chief bottoms, and I"d bet it"s a 511 or 512. Both were available as fast hitch, or 3 point.

Good luck on your trade.
