Serial number--model 140 IH Farmall Tractor

Where is the serial number located on a model 140 IH Farmall Tractor? I don't know the year manufactured.

Originally the tag is on the left ( looking forward) bell housing, just above the square mounting flange.
If it is missing, the engine will have a serial number stamped on the block above the distributor, there will be a flat milled spot towards the front, just below where the block & head meet.
Perhaps someone who owns one can join in to help.

On the port side behind the air cleaner stack there should be a 2 1/4" X 4" metal plate rivited to the bell housing. The serial # is stamped on that plate. Probably have to clean it with some steel wool to read it. The plate might also be gone.
