If you have been following his other posts, you will see he was using the wrong gaskets... he was using the ones for a 123 engine and not the 113 without a water pump.

Mark, did you ever have that head checked for cracks? Did you check it for flatness?

i do beleave that i wasnt getting the rite head gasket . thanks every one. i wish when you order parts, that these people would ask the rite questions to understand what you realy need insteed of always sending the wroung parts. it aint rite. the work and money you put in to resteration, shuondnt have a problem not only once, but twice? sorry, thay should take more care of there parts to sell it rite. if i do side work, i make it fair that i have a good reputation if its bad or good work. thay should stand behind what they sell and compansait for what they think is rite, but is wroung. sorry i got on a roll.. im sure with this rite head gasket i wont have to mess up the new paint job too.. thanks

[u:389d9bb5bf]If[/u:389d9bb5bf] I remember right, you told them you had a 133 engine and not a 113. Even if it is 133 cu. in now (and I don't know that it is) with oversize sleeves and pistons, the block was a 113 block and required the 113 head gasket.

It's up to you or me to ask the right questions, as I don't trust the guy on the phone or that reads my internet order, as they have too many kits and too much to remember. Same thing happened to me when I had a local parts guy order my engine kit for my Super A, they sent the gasket for a C123, so I asked for a C113 gasket and they sent that, no questions asked, and I still have the C123 gasket. It usually takes the buyer and the seller to make a mistake.

Obviously, you need to get the right head gasket. The wrong gasket will interfere with proper cooling. However, I am not convinced that using the wrong gasket is causing the leak. You need to recheck all the other possible causes that have already been mentioned, get the proper torque figures and make sure it is installed properly.

Obviously the right gasket needs to be used for proper cooling, etc.

But also, a very common mistake is to not use sealer on the threads of the head bolts, or not use enough.

I'm not 100% sure the threaded holes in the block go into the water jacket on this particular engine, but I'm assuming they do.

Although I'm suprised nobody else mentioned this, since it's such a common mistake - maybe they don't??? Or maybe it was discussed in the other posting which I have not seen?

Either way, the best gasket in the world isn't going to keep the coolant out of your oil if those threads aren't sealed properly. They WILL leak without it.

Use a good sealant specifically designed for the purpose.
