Factory 263 ci engine in 460

Recently purchased a 460 that needs some help. While checking it over, found it has a 263 engine in it. Everything I can find says it came out with a 221. Did any 460"s have the 263 from the factory or has the engine been replaced? Thank you in advance.

Its a replacement engine.

For sure the engine block has been replaced. There is no way of knowing what size the engine is unless you know the stroke. The same blocks were used for both the C-221 and thee C-263.

I have a 460 diesel with a block that is stamped D282 but it is actually a D-236 since they reused the original crankshaft when the block was replaced.
