Farmall A engine locks up

I have my grandfather"s old A. It doesn"t get used much, but the last time I used it it started easily, ran well for 10 minutes or so, and then seemed like it was working hard. I shut it down, and stuck the crank in and the engine was locked up. I let it sit for a few hours, restarted and it did the same thing. I remember years ago it did this one time, and then never again. It has good oil pressure, and the radiator is full. What is happening? Thank you,
Josh

Good oil pressure does not always mean oil is getting every where it needs to get. I would check the oil real good and make sure it does not have metal flacks in it or water etc. I would also make sure the starter is not staying locked in the flywheel because that can also cause odd problems

A few years ago I started up a U2 stationary engine, which I believe is the same cubes as the A. It had sat inside for years, in fact it had hardly any hours on it as it was an emergency pump engine for a small town water system. Didn't take much to get it running, but if I ran it fast it'd get tight after a minute or so. If it ran slow or at idle it would run for days. In fact it did run for days at a threshing show running a line shaft for the blacksmith shop. Probably has stuck rings. Jim
