power steering on 450

It is a big job to put Power steering on a 450 diesel that has a live pump and fast hitch?...thanks in advance..

This has been discussed hundreds of times. Do yourself a favor and go to the CaseIH parts website and see what is required. I'd stay with original parts as I did on a F400G.

You need the Behlen, a couple of IH hydraulic valves for PS, some hoses, brackets, and a drill and hacksaw.

Don't think there is a good definition for "Big Job". It might take an experienced mechanic 4 hours. It might take you 4 days.

If like IH did, sheet metal and fuel tank needs removed, Power steering type regulator and saftey valve installed. Power steering type hydraulic control valve. Pipe and fittings that go from regulator to control valve. Orfice plug installed between control valve and control valve support housing. Pressure and return hose and fittings. Steering unit installed with shorter worm shaft and a coupling. Also a steering unit brace. One was used on a diesel.
Or a charr lynn or other aftermarket with a pump mounted to run off a belt.

Hey num nuts this is a simple question.I did not know it was discussed "hundreds of times" so if you don't like someones question go crawl back in a hole and keep your pie hole shut..It's guys like you that keep honest hard working poeple off this site..

Your response just goes to show who is the numnut.

If you went to the archives, you would get alot more info than either D Slater or myself just wrote. I am guessing you really don't want to do the research and are probably incapable of doing the conversion. That assumption is based on your question of "how big a job". You got an appropriate answer, Numnut.

You could also spend about $10 on eBay and get the 400-450 PS manual. I am not going to copy and paste it or post it on my Photobucket site.

"No soup for you" or did that go over your head?

Do me a favor when a question is posted that you don't like how it is worded don't read it..move on.Have a good day Num nuts or maybe you don't have any...

Hey, slow down here guys.... Wardner was only pointing out that there are archives where that information can be found, and it's easier than re-hashing the subject. As for the 4 days, he's probably right, where someone that has been there and done that can do it in much less time, because he knows all the right moves.
Sometimes the written words do not come out the way it would in the spoken words.
