My 1953 Farmall Super-H has a seal leaking at that shaft from the trans that drives the hydraulic pump. Can someone tell me the best procedure to change that seal. Thanks!!!

That coupler is threaded on, so you need to unscrew it. Might need to drop the belly pump to gain enough room to work.

Put the transmission in reverse. Set the brakes (both of them). Place wooden blocks such as 4x4s in front of and behind at least one rear tire.

Find a length of 1/2" x 1/2" key stock, place the keystock into the slot on that coupler. Put a large wrench on the keystock, say a few choice words and do some grunting and that coupler should come loose. It is right handed threads. After that, it is just a matter of digging out the old seal and inserting the new one.

To get the coupler off, I welded a piece of 1/2 X 1/2 stock (purchased from TSC) to a 3/4 inch nut and used an end wrench. Worked like a charm.

An impact wrench works even better if you have one. Don't even need to put the trans in gear or set the brakes.
