antifreeze in the oil

changed the oil in my farmall 100 today because the oil was milky when i got it the guy told me it leaked some antifreeze and I never saw it untill now. when I pulled the drain plug the first bit out was green antifreeze. my question is he had said it probably was o-rings on the sleeves is it that or could it be a head gasket? how can I tell and how bad to fix? This is my work horse since its wood cutting time and I need it because of the loader.
any suggestions?
Thanks
Chad

Chad, only way to check a water leak as you say is to drop the pan and lay under it and look up and see where the water is coming from. Inside or out side of the sleeve. oldrion29

that is a good idea should have done that before I put new oil in it. if its a sleeve should I change them all or just the bad one that is if the sleeve will come out. pull the head and take the piston out and use a sleeve puller? shouldn't be to bad? can I get just new o-rings?

Ever change oil in a combine and have a little water or antifreeze trickle out before the oil starts?? That long hose gives the water/antifreeze somewhere to settle out.I drilled and taped the oil plug on my old 200 and used a foot of hyd hose with a cap on the end.Maby once a month i would drain off 2 or 3 teaspoons of water and it was plumbed like that when it sold.If you have money by the sackfull pay no mind to my cheap fix.Bud and Stinky.

So people say. My C had a small amount of antifreeze in the oil, I could not find the leak underneath, probably very small. I overhauled the engine, haven't completed the assembly as to hydraulics, etc yet. Head gasket was ok, head and block were magnafluxed, no cracks.

If one o-ring is bad the rest aren't far from it. IMO, since you have to disassemble the engine, replace the pistons and sleeves, etc. I did that to my engine and had the crank checked, it was ok -- but yours may not be. If you do the assembly yourself the engine kit and machine work will run about $1000. I think o-rings are less than $10 apiece if you want the cheap way.

Well i have a story for you guys. I bought a 686 diesel in michigan and it only has 3000 hours on it and im pretty sure they are original hours.Well i put about 6 hours on it and found prestone in the oil. Well its a real nice tractor so i sent it away to get fixed. I want it done right the shop said about 1500 to 1800 hundred a hole to rebuild. So they took it apart and sent the head away and the block. Well it needs new valves and guids and then they said the crank has to be turned new injector sleeves and sent the injectors to be checked, new tips. Well its all apart so new clutch and bearings rebiuld the oil pump new sleeves and pistons The O rings were cracked on the sleeves oh and then we sent the rad away to get boiled out, well guess what new core or after market rad. Need i say any more. It will be around 15000 just to fix prestone in the oil. They said the engine was full of stop leak or some thing like that. So thats my story,i should have never started on that. But i could not sell that tractor like the guy who sold it to me. Erik..
