oil filter leak

Changed oil and filter on my new M.Oil seeps out of top of filter around bolt.Is there supposed to be seal at top. Thanks Bill

There IS supposed to be a copper washer under the head of the bolt, however, if someone, at some time, has repeatedly over-tightened that bolt, the top of the canister gets deformed and then even a NEW washer will not seal it up. I had this happen on my 1940 H. Had to scrounge up a different canister.

You could put a o ring under washer until you get parts to fix it.
