Restoration Progress......I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Been at this over a year in spare time. Complete rebuild.....man I'm tired of cleaning bolts and such.
I'm just a few days from firing this thing up again and at least hearing it run.
Been a great project with two young sons too.
All of your expertise has been great and also encouraging in the process.

Thanks to all....

Cleaning bolts and such does get to be a chore, but if you don't do it, the end result would be nothing even remotely close to the fine example of workmanship I see in your pictures. Do it right the first time and you'll never need to do it again.

Excellent work!!!

Now you won't be able to use it. Might get dirty. Nice job. Helped the landlord with a couple of his JD restorations. He got them completed & then covered them up with bed sheets so they wouldn't get dirty---never ran them.

I've been realizing that myself, way to much time in this thing. Good thing no one is paying for it because they couldn't afford it. May have to just joy ride on it for several months but then it has to go to work.

I have a 51 Super A also. I will need to repaint it and I am still in the cleaning stage. I am interested to know what you used to clean your SA bolts etc. Right now I am still scraping oil and dirt off then I have a degreaser to use. Do you have any suggestions for cleaning prior to painting? Your Super A looks great!
