I have a 706 gasser that I got last year and have the bugs I hope worked out of it. Had the carb rebuilt as well. My question is what is the high end RPM for stock tractor? Mine runs just a little over the pto line on the gauge with it not pulling anything. Can I get a little more or just leave it?
Thanks in advance
Matt

Should be around 2100rpm.You are ok where it's are at.You can turn it up a bit,but you may not get any more HP(torque curve)-just burn more gas!

What do you mean it will not pull anything? When they are running correctly they run great, IF they are tuned correctly run the co correct oil and ya run the correct fuel. Myself i have run 706 gassers for the better part of 35 years and have gotten along fine with them. My two closest friends run them and they get along just fine with them . As for engine RPM i usually set them for 2500-2600 high idle . Now as for tune up spec.'s we need to know IF it is a C263 or a C291 . And if it has or has not been up graded from a C263 to a 291. I have found that i have had the best luck running A/C C 86 plugs or Autolites when i can find them. Keeping the timing set to the engine size is vary important on them as this is where ya really need to know just what engine you have as the timing does not set the same . GAS, is the next thing YOU HAVE TO RUN 93 octane. If you do not believe me on this you had best get and Org. owners manual and READ about minimum octane fuel requirements for this tractor. Now If your tractor is lossen power coughen spitten and sputteren when coming under a load it may be to late and engine damage may have already been done because of tryen to run it working under load on 87 octane gas . 87 octane burns way to hot and it will super heat the pistons and cause them to expand and guild to the sleeves , also incorrect ing. timing will not help. Next the type of engine oil is a nother thing that they are vary fussy about . here ya have to run a Low Ash oil or deposits will build on the exhaust valves and torch a cute little Vee in them so fast it will make your head spin. How do i know this , because i have been down this road before . In other word a I H gasser has to be FEMALE and as long as ya do what she wants she will be good to ya but try and short cut yous going to pay.

Yes it pulls everthing I hook it too. I said with it not pulling anything at full throttle it will run just past the PTO rpms. Can't remember what that is for sure. Thinking its like 2100 or so. Pretty much runs good now, just was wondering if or what the high RPMs should be set at. Haven't look at my book yet. If I do want higher RPMs what screw or how do I do so?
Thanks in advance
Matt

There is a adjusting bolt on the gov. that limits the movement of the linkage . And with out going to the truck for my books for the correct spec's off the top of my head i can not give ya the excite spec's but PTO is around 2300 something . I think . I set the engine RPM with a tach not the one in the dash. The one 706 that my buddy has it is running around 2700 . But that one as had a bunch of extra engine work done to it , as it has been balanced with a redone cam and head work that most would not do to a farm tractor . But it sure does run sweet .
