1066 Fun ride Yesterday

Was out Baling with my 1066 and my NH 851 Round baler yesterday, started hearing an aweful noise, then noticed that the Right Front Wheel was leaving me.... Luckily got her stopped before the wheel came all the way off. Both Wheelbearings were completely gone, lots of grease, just father time said it was time I guess. Managed to get some almost right bearings enough to get the wheel back on, unhook the baler and get the tractor out of the field. Had to use my sickly 1130 MF to finish the job. Anyone know the actual Bearing Numbers for Timken bearings for the 1066? I"d rather not visit my local dealer, i have a distributor here for good bearings and would rather replace both sides for less than one side at the case dealer.

If you take both inner and outer races with you, any good parts store can match that info up to get you the right bearing.

All Timken numbers
cups 603049 & 603011
cones[ rollers] 48548 & 48510
Same thing happened to ours while discing. Outer race cracked.
You can get the bearings & cups on e-bay for less--but shipping time will hold you up.
They have set numbers--set 5 for the outside & set 37 I believe for the inside.

Thanks for the info, It will definately help as the remains of the inner bearing has no number left on it, the outer there is a number, but they were not timken bearings, so again, thanks for the numbers.

Our races turned in the hub. Had to use a center punch to stake the hub to get the races to fit tight. Then red Loc-Tite to secure things. Still running, but we got a couple of used hubs, since they fit 1440-1460 combine & 86 series tractors. Believe they are used on 560 & 06--56 series.
We've never checked the brgs on our combines except to jack them up & roll them.
We're going to clean & check both combines' rear wheels before fall rolls around. A person just gets lazy.

Thanks again for the Bearing Numbers, The Inner Bearing had wiped the numbers off itself. Other than that, the spindle looks fine, and the new bearings fit fine. I did replace both sides, as they were original from what I could tell, they certainly should not have failed, the tractor is a 1975, they should have made it another 20 years at least.... I just purchased the tractor last year, so I don"t know much of it"s history, and it"s the first IH i"ve ever owned, despite this it"s making me like IH alot more. Seems like a very reliable tractor. I found it with 5000 hours, working T/A Duals, nice cab, for $4,000.00 At the time I didn"t think I needed another tractor but could not pass up the deal, glad now I have it.
