460-560 diesel starter.

Can anyone tell me the approx starter amp draw on a 460 diesel?? Are the starters for the 460 560 diesels the same or interchangeable?? Thanks. Bud and Stinky.

I believe they are interchangeable, you can also use a 66 series starter on a 560 but not the 460, because the 460 bellhousing is smaller. On my 460D we changed the solinoid and the brushes and it would really wing it over.

Volts shouldn"t drop much below 11. Amps around 3 to 5 hundred.

The starters are not the same. The mounting holes and bolt patterns are different. The 560 starter it too big to fit in the 460.

The 460 should have starter number 1108642 or 1108657. The specs are the same for both. Test at 11.8 volts, 40 - 70 amp draw, 6800 - 9200 RPM.
Spec number 449.

The 560 uses starter number 1113053. Spec number 2412. Test at 9 volts, 50 -70 amp draw with solenoid, 3500 - 5500 RPM.

These are no load tests. They do not give any specs for lock up test.
