Steering Wheel reconditioning

Any thoughts on what to use to recondition the rubber on the steering wheel. Mine is in very good condition other than the normal cracks but all in tack. Turns your hands black in seconds, would like to clean it up and keep it looking nice. Thoughts?

Soap and water. After it's clean, you might try some automotive wax.

Armor-all does an excellent job of restoring the appearance, but it leaves the steering wheel slippery.

I'm restoring my H. I'm thinking I might try some spray-on black truck-bed no-slip coating I bought from O'Reilly's. I'm gonna mask off the red spokes, and put on a layer. Seems like it should stick, be black, be a good grip....

Use JB Weld to fill in the cracks first or it's just going to look like an old steering wheel that somebody painted.

Auto body filler would be a better choice than JB Weld I think. Fill the cracks, let the filler set up, and then sand it down to the shape desired. Finish up with a coat of satin black enamel from a rattle can. If you have a good eye for shaping the body filler, the steering wheel will look like a brand new one when finished.
