Pics of silo filler

Winter project done. Got this out of a cow yard. Farmer told me it was scrap iron, now he said he will help me fill silo this fall.

Very nice! I hope to get my plows in that condition some day.

Looks like hog buildings in the background. Mine don't eat too much corn silage.

Nice looking silo filler. We had a Papec for fillig silo and we used for shredding corn fodder.
Had to change the knives when shredding. We used a 10-20 McCormick-Deering tractor for both operations. Somehow a pitch fork was left on it and it did a number on it.. Had to have it it rebuilt. In 1950 a neighbor bought a field chopper pulled by a Farmall M. It took about 3 weeks to fill two big silos with the silo filler.

With the chopper it took about 3 or 4 days. We used the 10-20 on the blower. Kept 2 or 3 men in the silos to tramp the silage. Always like to watch the cows eat that silage. Hal

What a great job I remember my dad using the one I have on my trailer now that is going for scrape along with the corn binder in the early 1950's, just to bad these were in our junk pile for a lot of years and are not restorable, I will be saving the wheels and steel pully ours had and the large steel wheel off of the corn binder, again what a great job you did keep up the good work.

That's a nice job you did on that machine. We had one similsr to that one only a little newer version with three rubber tired wheels. Front wheel pivoted around so you could park the tongue under the apron when filling silos. We got pipe clamps to speed up build-up and tear-down because we custom filled silos. Had a nice 2 row McCormick PTO driven corn binder on rubber with wagon elevator to go with the outfit. Ran the ensilage cutter with a W-6 and the binder with an H. Traded it all away for the Gehl Field Chopper, Blower and false endgate wagons in 1952 so we could fill silos with haylage along with the corn silage. The cutter/binder outfit was actually faster in corn silage filling though.
