In tidying up all the odds and ends on my Farmall H it occurred to me to check the distributor cap, rotor and points. The cap came off easily enough, but the rotor simply could not be removed from the drive spindle. I eventually prised it off with a screw driver and found it had been securely attached with roofing silicone! The slot in the spindle (49420DX) was slightly worn, but not broken. I bought a new spindle anyway and then found an old IH spindle in its box at the farm - unfortunately the bakelite is broken on that. It did, however, have an instruction sheet, which mentions 'L' & 'R' markings for clockwise and counter clockwise magnetos. The new spindles have no such markings, though there is a tiny 'o' stamped on one of the teeth. Is the 'o' the same as the original 'L' or 'R'?
