Hi speed moldboards

I just bought a 540 plow w/HS moldboards, Super Chief and wondered what the real difference between HS and GP moldboards were and what the functional speed should be, 14". Also if anyone has some good Flexi-Plates, let me know.

4 to 5 mph is a good average plowing speed.There is no such thing as a "used"flex plate coverboard.Buy new ones.

LOL, just trying to save a buck, guess IH is the only place to buy? Sounds like the same speed as regular moldboards.

Grandpa's plow had those moldboards when I was a kid. If memory serves the high speed refers to the taper of the moldboard. Rolls the ground completely over and it looks fast when watching the plow. Makes the furrows real level. It really doesn't refer to faster ground speed.

I would guess one of the yards around Sikeston would have coverboards. We found some good enough ones at a local junkyard up here in WI.
