300 utillity price?

My neighbor wants to sell his 1955 300U. he is tired of it breaking down all the time. The hydrayulics were the last thing to go. it runs but the timing won't stay set and it needs back tires. I have the same tractor and would like to buy it and fix it up. the only other thing I will get with it is a front end loader. How much should I offer for this tractor?

I just bought a 300 with front loader and backhoe, everything works but has its leaks here and there, it needs a few tweaks. paid 2800. hope this helps.

In that condition, 1000 is about tops. The timing is probably a distributor rebuild, The hydraulics could be 1000 to fix, or a 35Cent "O"ring, tough to assess. The loader is a Plus, but also indicates the tractor was stressed. How he treated it would also weigh in on the decision.

I bought a nice one last fall with 2001 loader ..everything works.. excellent shape. even looks very nice w chains wheel weights $ 3500
