Got a couple simple questions about my newly purchased B. I have noticed a small fresh puddle of oil under the shifter each night after I used it. So I cleaned up all the area under and found it is leaking between the transmission connects to the front half of the tractor (see pic). Not sure what it is called.

I believe it has been leaking for a while. I want to check the oil level and make sure there is enough in there. I found the plug on the side where you check the oil level and see where you add it on top by the shifter. What type of oil should I use? I figured it uses like a 80W-90 gear oil.

Also, is there anyway to fix this or even slow it without splitting the tractor? I don't know if that is something I can tackle or have the tools to do so. Thanks!

When you pull the little level check plug, you will know whether there is enough oil, OR if it is overfilled. If the tractor was outside, there could be water in the transmission, that lesked in the shifter, that would bring the oil level above the seal at the transmission, which would cause the leak between the torque tube and the transmission. Check the level.

You need to split the tractor there un-hook the drive shaft then you can remove the yoke and the seal is rite there mite want to also replace the bearing behind the seal a little wear on the bearing sure makes the tranny noiser.
