Disolate Manifold cracked

I have the original disolate manifold for my 39 H and also have a heat shield. The manifold has a few cracks and I am wondering if anyone has had much luck welding them up or do they just keep cracking? Id kinda like to save it if possible or my other option is to drill and tap and install some studs in a gas manifold to mount the heat shield too. Thanks for any input. Paul

I've had the pipes welded into the tops before (not a dist manifold, IIRC they have two bolts like the diesels)
You have to use special rod and NOT high nickel rod. There are WAY more advancements than that.

This one is cracked below the chiminy on the flat box shaped spot above the carb. The heat shield would cover it.

Paul,

They are repairable with bare cast iron rod ,
flux ,preheat and a torch .

I have done some and have some pictures of the
work.

Send me an email if you want some pictures.
