Dad bought a international tractor. It has a wide front end, 16 inch tires on front, 24 inch tires on rear, a four speed transmission, "the right top of moter has the casting C 123, so I think its a 123cid engine. The ID tag says serial 5129 J but the model is beyond reading cause it was not stamped like the serial.. The date code on other side or right side we cant make out. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Is the grille rounded or square? If it is rounded, the tractor could be a 130, however, if it is squared off, the tractor is a 140. Also, if the seat is padded, the tractor is probably a 140. If the seat is an old-fashioned pan seat, it points to being a 130, or something similar. Of course, I don't think you can trust your seller too much on the subject of tractor information, because that serial number would make the tractor a 1959 model, if it really is a 140. However, a 5129 J serial number indicates that, if the tractor is a 130, then it is indeed a 1957 model. Either way, your seller is wrong on at least one point. By the way, good luck to you and your father, I am sure you all will enjoy your new tractor. 130s and 140s were some of International's best models!

Look up a picture of a 450.
Look up a picture of a 560.
Look up a picture of a 706.

If it looks vaguely like a 450, it is a 130.

If it looks vaguely like a 560, it's an early 140.

If it looks vaguely like a 706, it is a later 140.

Should be obvious if you look at the 130 and 140 in the tractor photos, first topic under Galleries to your left.

Thank you for the quick replies. THe seat has been replaced or recovered with gray material so cant be sure cause its not adjustable the way its bolted up with these square socket bolts straight threw the tracks. I forgot to mention that the tractor is partially disassembled and when I asked dad to show me the grill- there was 2 different grills that he was given. One grill has on each half--2-6-2 louvers and one has 4-4-4-4 louvers per half.He has a 140 also so it really dosent look like a 140. I found a few specs online, like overall height @ steering wheel, but the 100 and 130 are the same- 63 inches high, while the 140 is supposed to be 83 inches high, Ill check that tomarrow. Also the hood no longer has any emblems just a faded area where they once where. If you google image search for a farmall 100 or 130 you get so many irrelavent pics its a pain.Im still confused since there is no differance in wheellbase between a 100 and 130 or overall height. But im leaning towards a 57 130 cause what you guys said about the serial.
