The book tells me how to check glow plugs and i found one dead.I replaced the bad with new and new wireing harness but is there a way to check if glow plugs are only marginal?? Bud and Stinky.

Glow plugs are usually like light bulbs... they either work or they don't.

Are these pencil GP's connected in parallel?

If so, and you have access to an Ammeter (30 to 50 Amp rating), you can power up each one individually through the Ammeter and verify that each draws close to the same current.

Since the GP's likely aren't rated for continuous duty at full battery voltage, take the reading quickly and move on to the next, so as not to overheat the GP's.

(BTW, if you are doing that with them not installed, wear eye and face protection, as I have seen them pop open and throw shrapnel, if overheated.)

either work or dont work. simple way to check is unplug them all and connect one then press glow plug button to see if it moves to the right. if it does then glow plug is good. repeat for the next six one at a time. if guage dont move glow plug is toast.

Electrically they usually work or they don't. If you have them out you can inspect them for blisters or worn areas.
