Farmall H antifreeze in oil

42 H has antifreeze leaking into oil pan through the oil drain back holes at the bottom of the front timing cover. In review of the forums, it appears there is a freeze plug behind that front timing cover? Can anyone confirm?

There isn't a freeze plug in the front of the block. The water jacket cover on the side of the block is the freeze protection. There is a freeze plug in the back of the block at the end of the camshaft, but it keeps oil from leaking out but that's all. If you have coolant in the front cover area, the block may be cracked behind or around the water pump.

Thanks for the info. I have removed the front timing cover and the antifreeze tracks lead from the right side and bottom of the camshaft retainer plate. I'm in the process of removing the camshaft and the rest of the gears so I can get the front plate off and see what's going on back there.

Update; after removing the cover, timing gears and engine plate, I found a freeze plug directly below the water pump. Plug had a quarter inch crack. Had to shell out .79 cents for a new one. Always the way it is. Thanks for the help.

(quoted from post at 10:27:57 07/06/11) Very interesting. The block on my '51 H doesn't have a plug there. A running change perhaps?

Yes, there was a post last week that covered the date/year of the change.

I know this is an old post. I cant find any info when the frost plug was deleted on the front of the block. Thanks.
