How to remove stuck rim from center on an H

I have a rim that will not budge off the center even though I have removed the six wheel wedges. It is apparently rusted in place. I can see a gap between the rim and the center that is filled up with rusty looking material. I don't want to damage the rim as it is still solid and intact and has a loaded 12.4/38 tire mounted on it. I have the center off the axle and laying on the ground. I would be very grateful for any suggestions.

try and dig all the rust out from between the center and the rim. you may need to go in with a hacksaw blade to get as much out as you can. then see if the center will drop away from the rim. you can also try an air hose and a blow gun, or a sandblaster to get the debris out.

Thanks, that makes sense. I have a hacksaw blade and an air hose, so I'll give it a whirl. Much obliged for the help.

Ill assume by 6 you mean 12, since the others will fall off once the bolts are out. The hub has probably wedged in the rim since you have it laying on the ground now. Id think it would take ALOT of rust to keep it from moving. That thing is heavy.

Had it happen once on an H. 2lb hammer and a block of wood made short work of it. I laid mine on the ground so the wheel center had to go down.

In addition to cleaning out the debris, I have a 5 lb. brass hammer that I have used in this situation. a bit of penetrating oil on the rust, such as PB blaster. Be careful if you are using a regular sledge or similar. you will deform the cast and if you hit is too hard, can break it.

It would also be handy if you have a way to put some "down" pressure on the center, and then work your way around at all the "touch" points. if you have a front end loader or similar, put a little down "push" on it.
