E4A coupler disk question - the race continues Regular updat

ok, the clutch is back in the Regular and of course first pass, I put the pressure plate in backwards. However, after I looked at myself in the mirror and said "Dufus", I corrected that.

Now, only thing left is to finish the carb, and put the mag back on. Here is the question. This had a Fairbanks Morse mag on it when I got it. That mag has good spark, but I prefer putting an E4A on it that i have. Coupler disk for the FM mag is definately different than the E4A. I don't have an extra F4 disk, but from what I can see, that own't work either.

Anyone have a picture of an E4A coupler disk? An extra one for Sale?

For a E4A Mag, the "Disk" that bolts onto the shaft from the governor is about 3/4 of an inch thisker/wider and the nut is recessed.

I am in the process of putting an E4A Mag on a 10-20 and am going to use large washers as spacers to fill the remaining 3/8 inch gap between the timing-adjusting disks. (Hope that makes sense.)

My 39 F-20 had a F.M. mag on it too. I got another rebuilt IH mag with a coupler. It was too short. I was told I have the older style of governor and my mag is correct. So I made my own adapter also. I figure someday I will put a cover over it and no one will know the difference. I wonder why some of these older tractors had their original mags replaced with F.M. mags. The first picture is of the mag that was on my tractor and the second one is the set up with the IH mag.

there are 2 lengths of the timing disk that goes on the governor shaft. Also from memory if a man has the later E4 from like an early duckbill the standard small diameter coupler won't be right either. Either of you guys send me pictures of what you are trying to hook to what and I can fix you up with the right stuff. [email protected]

Thanks Cowman, and happy fourth. I'll send pics, and also post them here. Will take pics of the govenor end and also the end of the E4A. Probably take some of the FM and coupler also just for reference.

I will use the FM to get this old girl started and running, but want the E4A on for permanent use.
