my 1486 was making a clicking noise somewhere in the mid section. no matter if you were driving it or sitting in park runnung. All at once i lost my steering brakes and pto. my guess is that the splines stripped on the pressure plate and the input shaft. but would that make a clicking noise before stripping? Everything worked fine when it had the click. or am I on the wrong track? James.

If it was in the PTO gears the noise would be present even when the clutch is released.

It would be nice to know if the noise is still there if you have the speed transmission between 2nd and 3rd. In that position the only gears meshing are the TA and counter shaft gears.

It sounds like your other failure is the drive hub and IPTO shaft in the pressure plate. If you haven't taken it apart yet you may trying to put a piece of wire or cotter pin in between the gear and hub and make it turn enough to do some more testing.
