SH Hydraulics Problem

The hydraulics on my '54 SH quit working. I put a gauge on one of he outlets and found that I only had 500 psi pressure. So I assume that the problem is the pump (it's original). But before I buy a new pump, is there anything else I should check? And if it is the pump, are there any recommended sources for a new one? I realize that Case-IH might be the best source, but they'll want 2 to 10? times the price of anyone else. Amongst aftermarket sources is there more than 1 brand of pump and are some better than others?

Before you replace the pump here's a couple things to check:

1 - Make sure the Liftall lever is pulled all the BACK and latched. Also try holding the lever back past where the latch holds it and see if the hydraulics now work.

2 - If if the hydraulics still don't work solve it take a look at the 4-way remote valve ("Christmas tree" valve). An internal leak here will mimic a hyd pump failure.

There is only one pump, the same pump, no matter who you buy it from.

You may as well shop around for best price.
