H Farmall (Steering Problem)

(quoted from post at 14:40:30 06/29/11) I have a problem with my H Farmall. It shimmies at high speeds. Is there an adjustment or a way to correct this problem?

No adjustments. It is flat worn out and needs new bushings and bearings.

(quoted from post at 00:42:05 06/30/11) Mine did that and I tightend up the big nut in the bolster and the shimmy went away.

The one on the front of the steering wheel shaft?

Take the hood off, and go for a drive. Watch for movement in the steering shaft. Common causes are the universal joint in mid-shaft, the little ball bearing behind the nut at the front of the steering shaft, bad wheel bearings, worn sector gear in the top of the bolster, and even loose bushings in the bolster itself. In my experience, the ball bearing at the front of the steering shaft where it terminates was the culprit.
