I was reading in the international service guide for ih clutches that in order for me to remove the clutch in my H i have to take it out through a hole in the bottom of the clutch housing. I am wondering if it would be possible to split the tractor and take it out the front of the bell housing? Thanks

You can do it either way. If you take it out the bottom, you need to drop the hydraulic belly pump first. If you decide to split the tractor, you need a good set of splitting stands. If you don't have the splitting stands, it's best to take the clutch out the bottom.

I replaced my H clutch without splitting the tractor. The difficulty I encountered was getting the clutch release sleeve carrier bolts back in. I developed an installation method using a hex standoff threaded into the bolts and a wire to pull the bolt into position.

The last pic shows the standoff being turned counter clock wise to start the bolt threads. Patten pending.
