looking at 184 cub, lift does not work. possibly the pump squeals when lever is engaged. what is your guess?

No oil in the trans.

Some possible issues could be: clogged filter, leaking suction line, faulty pressure regulator valve, safety valve stuck open, fluid could be leaking past lift cylinder, check valve stuck or bad o-ring, and possible pump failure. If you can get a 3,000psi gage and do some pressure testing, it might save you some work and time.
