Which PTO adapter do I want ?

Used the Regular for dragging the driveway yesterday and had a ball doing it ! I want to next use it on the PTO spreader but I see I will require an adapter. Which is the one I want based on cost and quality ? I also think an overall longer adapter would be preffered to reach to where the PTO shaft is on the Regular. Anyone have one that works out well ? Thanks~ Mike

There is a PTO extension for a Regular just like the PTO extension for a F-20 only it bolts on to the back of the rear-end.

DO NOT hook up any PTO equipment on your regular unless you know for sure the PTO shaft is long enough to stay safely engaged.
The F series have a different PTO to drawbar configuration than ASAE standard. ONLY the factory PTO extension puts the tractor into the ASAE standard that was adopted in the early 40's. The short adapters for changing it to the standard size shaft will let you hook it up but if the shaft is too short and comes uncoupled in the middle when going over a mound or bump, it will beat the he!! out of your regular and possibly you and your legs.

I am not famalier with what you mentioned, could you enlighten me ? Where to get these as well ? Cost ? Thanks !

ORC or over riding clutch is a racket sort of thing for the PTO and it keeps machines like brush hogs from pushing a tractor when the clutch is pushed down as in non-live PTO tractors which most of the older ones are like. Cost is not cheap but worth it in the long run since it could well save your life. In $$ around $50-70

Gotcha, thanks. Although in this case that might not be needed as I am only gonna run the speader and maybe the elevator with it. How about a supplier for these items ?

as 36F30 mentioned, if you dont have a PTO extension on your tractor already, your gonna be in big trouble if you try to use the short shaft under the transmission. thing will fly apart and go bang quickly when that shaft slips off

one other thing, is the PTO stub under the rearend ISNT the same diameter as ASAE 540 shafts, they are smaller

If you find a PTO extension, everyone ive seen/had was ASAE 540 diamter and you dont need an adapter

Before you hurt yourself you need to realize that anything hooked to your regular drawbar that was not made for it will be hitched over 18" further away from the stub shaft than an ASAE tractor like an H or M, regardless of the over running clutch issues the shaft will be overextended and come apart and beat the hell out of you. A simple adaptor would allow you to use a grain elevator because you can back up close and it doesn't hook to the drawbar.

To use a hitched implement you need one of these first (this is on an F30, the one for a regular is similar)

Used ones are the only option and they sell for around $150 or so.
