Momma's MAD!!! with pics

I picked up a complete 4 row cultivator for the M Farmall that my Dad bought new when he was farming. I am planing on using it to cultivate our sweetcorn that we raise every year. We plant about an acre, and give the girls the money for schools clothes, extra activities, etc. I only paid $100.00 for it,(delivered to my front door). A shrewd purchase I thought. Not so accoring to my wife. I can understand her being upset. After all I didn't visit with her about the purchase(I wonder why?) Oh did I forget to mention that I don't have the M running yet either. Soft plug under the front cover rusted through and dumped the water into the oil pan. A technicality in my book. I posted pics of my M, the cultivator, and as a bonus, the C Farmall I painted back in 90'. Another tractor my dad bought bran spanking new in 49. 1st one on the International lot in town.

Mad over $100!?! That's a night at the bar for a lot of my friends.

Now get that M running! Looks like a decent enough machine. A couple oil leaks on the engine, but other than that it looks ok. I like the exhaust. I cut mine off so I could fit it in the shed, but not that much.

maintained equipment should be worth as much as you paid for it or more down the road. not to mention you get value out of using it. that's more than I can say for scented candles :)

It would have cost at least that much for a new roto-tiller. Then she would get to use it in the hot sun and chance getting skin cancer. You were looking out for her health. That was sweet of you. She should thank you.

Sounds like you need a separate account for these sorts of transactions. My wife made me get a checking account just for "farm" purchases, and it has been the best thing. No questions asked on purchases, just shakes her head now. Funded by the hay and grains sold from playing.

Looks like a mighty nice shed. $100 isn't that much. Are you serious that she really got mad?Husbands and wives need to be a little less picky about what the other buys without first consulting with the other!!!!

You should have had it delivered around back instead of to the front door! :D

What we do at our house is my wife has her own hobby (she makes quilts). As long as we keep the bills paid, she doesn't question my purchases, and I don't question hers, and everybody's happy!

Since that is your dad's tractor, sorry honey, I just had to do it !! Mine gets over it eventually, she's a city girl & can not understand why anyone would fix up an old tractor. It's been a couple of years now & it is just starting to grow on her a bit, she is talking about maybe going to a few shows soon, so we'll see. I'm not holding my breath, but you never know.
$100 bucks isn't anything to squabble over, there will be plenty more life will throw both of you in the years to come. How it gets dealt with separates the men from the boys, if all she has to worry about is your tractors, I would say you must be doing something right.

Been there done that on the money issue. I now keep my tractor account in my back pocket. If it didn't come out of the household account she's happy. Whenever I do show up with something new, (to me), and IF she notices I just explain I "traded" some of my other junk for it.

Nice find on the cultivator!

Yeah it is a nice shed. It is on my property, but belongs to my father-in-law, for the time being. 60ft wide 93ft. long with 18ft side walls. I'll start a new post with some pics of when they put it up.

I slipped out a couple of weekends ago and bought another 4 bottom plow- brought it home in an enclosed trailer and parked it behind the shed with the other two. Wife does most of the mowing, and has to mow around it. She hasn't said a word. Either she hasn't realized it wasn't there before, or just decided to let it be. Either way, I ain't sayin' nuthin'.
