This weekend when getting ready to make some hay the pto shift lever became free when attempting to engage.I pulled the loose lever from the housing and observed a pin hole at the end of the shaft. I am assuming I need to replace the pin. I would appreciate your advise
on how to proceed with this repair. Am I correct in assuming that the top housing will need to be removed? Are there any tricky mechanical issues that I need to be aware of? Your advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom, looking at caseih.com parts, it depends which pin is missing, if item #4 has come off the end of shaft item #2 then it will be more difficult than when the pin shears off the bottom of item #4. If it is the pin that fits in collar #5, I believe the pin can be replaced and the shaft re-installed by removing the assembly by removing the 3 screws that hold the assembly in transmission. To prevent trans fluid leak, park tractor on slope with PTO lever on up side.

Check the archives as someone had described the repair a few months ago.
