getting ready to do restore of my SUPER clean 560 and would like to see some pictures of some great 560's... let's see them. Thx Chad

I have seen a 560 in western KY that has 13hrs on the hour meter. The tractor had a few parts taken off of it and it set at the dealership for years. You might do a little research on IH clubs and get some photos of this machine. The original dealership was in Union or Webster county. Tractor is now privately owned, and I have no doubt to the actual hours: I am sorry that I do not have more info.

thanks!

Just looking forward to have a SUPER nice 560 that we can be proud for for many years to come.

I don't own a 560 but hope to someday. Here are a few pictures of a 460 and some 560's from last years Red Power Roundup in LaPorte Indiana.

If you miss this years Roundup next year it is supposed to be at Duquoin Illinois. If you want to see a lot of different machinery at one show I would recommend going to the Half Century show in Rantoul Illinois. They have a big static display area and a lot of machinery doing field work also. I would say it is my favorite show to go to.

yep we are planning to attend... we saw the heritage tractors last weekend, SO awesome.

thanks again for those pictures :)

Congratulations on starting a 560 restoration, they are beautiful tractors and of 5/17/11 I started my restoration of 560

These 560 pics bring back a good memory. I was home to NE Iowa on vacation one year, maybe late '60s/early '70s, and went to visit one of my uncles. He lived about 5 miles north of my folks in the hills and was baling oat straw when I got there, so I drove to the field to see him. After talking for a while, he said, "Hey, you can run one of these things, jump on and finish this load." He had a 560 on a JD baler with a thrower on it (which I had never used before), and of course I jumped at the chance to run any tractor. Maybe had 20 minutes running it, but he was an uncle I had worked for some as a kid and I'm sure he knew what it meant to an old farm boy.

yes i'm with 100%, these ol' tractors do bring back memories.

we dont farm any more but I manage a ag equipment dealership so I'm knee deep in Ag and love it... BUT i do charish those ol days. Just turned 40 this yr but remember doing LOTS of work on 560's back in the day. We did everything with those tractors... raking hay, hauling in ear corn, even did some disking couple times too. BUT as the operation got much much larger, 560 was home on the end of an auger :)

Im getting married this sept and you can bet it will be in the photos :)

I"ve been negotiating with the guy that owns the 560LP my Dad got brand new in "63. They still use it quite a bit, lighter duty things like pulling a sandfighter or a spray rig. Hopefully I can talk him out of it soon...lol It was the first "big" tractor I got to drive when I was a kid.

You just turned 40 and cherish the old days??? I like that! Anyway, congrats on getting married soon.
For twostep... what the heck is a "sandfighter"?

It is very simular to what we used to call a rotary hoe, breaks up the top soil enough to keep the sand from blowing in the wind and burning the young cotton plants.

Thanks... a rotary hoe I know! We have them in the mid-west. Don't get used a whole lot any more I guess, with all the "no-till". Too darn many chemicals used now... takes all the fun out of farming and will eventually ruin the soil and ground water (JMO of course).
