I'm looking at a 656 gas row crop that a guy is selling because he says it will not keep running. He says it has been losing power pulling a brushhog or even going uphill. I heard it run today briefly for about 1 and a half minutes before it just shut itself down (sounds like turning off the key). Sounds more ignition/electrical than fuel related to me, as there is no cough before it dies. Motor doesn't sound odd or present any smoke. Any ideas or personnal experiences??

(quoted from post at 23:09:11 06/18/11) When it dies check for spark. If it still has spark the fuel shut off solenoid on the carburetor may be bad.

And if it does not have spark, replace the ignition coil.
